The CompetitionThe Royal Society of New Zealand, in association with the Freemasons of New Zealand (the principal sponsor), is running a competition for schools. The three winning teams travelling to the United Kingdom to view the 2004 Transit of Venus and send back digital video reports to New Zealand students. Each school is allowed one team entry of a 3-5 minute video, on one of a range of supplied topics, and supporting written material. We were inspired by the invitation from Sir Martin Reeves... "I invite the Transit of Venus expedition from New Zealand to visit our Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge and hear about the new challenges we face: the search for dark matter and energy and the questions about the origins and future of our Universe".Thus our team has chosen the topic “modern
astronomy and cosmoslogy”.
We are exploring the idea of Dark Matter.
